Custom Software Development Company in Chennai
Software built around how your business actually works — not the other way round. You own the source code, the database and the hosting. No per-seat licence that grows every time you hire.

The spreadsheet still runs the company
Every growing business reaches the same point: the real operation lives in one enormous spreadsheet, three WhatsApp groups and one person’s head.
It worked at ten people. At forty it costs you money quietly — the same figure typed into four places, an order that shipped twice, a follow-up nobody made because the note was in a chat nobody reads. Nobody can say how much it costs, which is exactly why it survives.
The alternative most businesses try first is off-the-shelf software. Sometimes that’s the right answer and we’ll say so. But when your process is the thing that makes you competitive, bending it to fit someone else’s product is an odd trade.
Build or buy?
This is the first question we ask, and often the answer is “buy”. We’d rather tell you that in week one than take a project that shouldn’t exist.
| Off-the-shelf SaaS | Custom built | |
|---|---|---|
| Upfront cost | Low or none | ₹6,00,000–25,00,000 |
| Cost at 50 users | ₹3–9 lakh per year, forever | Hosting only |
| Time to running | Days | 10–20 weeks |
| Fits your process | You fit its process | Built around yours |
| If the vendor changes pricing | You pay, or you migrate | Nothing changes |
| Your data | On their servers, their terms | Your database, your server |
| Right when | Your process is standard — accounting, payroll, email, helpdesk | Your process is the competitive advantage, or no product fits it |
| Wrong when | You’re paying for 40 features to use 3, and the 3 don’t quite work | You haven’t tried the ₹2,000/month tool that would have done it |
Systems that replace the spreadsheet
Most projects start as one of these and grow into two or three. Built on standard PHP, Laravel or Node with MySQL or PostgreSQL — boring, documented technology any developer can pick up.
Get a fixed quoteYour stages, your fields, your follow-up rules. Not a generic pipeline you have to rename every column of.
Inventory, purchase orders, production, dispatch and billing in one place, with GST-compliant invoicing.
The screens your team lives in all day. Fast, keyboard-friendly, and built for people who use them a hundred times a day rather than once.
The repeated manual steps — approvals, reminders, report generation, data moving between systems — done without anyone remembering to do them.
Tally, Zoho, Razorpay, Shiprocket, WhatsApp Business, your website. Usually cheaper than replacing any of them.
Let customers check their own order status instead of phoning your team. Often the fastest payback of anything on this list.
When the business already runs on WordPress, we build the application inside it rather than adding a second system to maintain.
The question to ask before you sign anything
“When this is finished, what exactly do I have?”
A surprising number of custom software contracts in this market end with the client owning a login. The source code sits in the agency’s repository, the database on the agency’s server, and every change — including the ones you need urgently — goes through them at their rate.
You get the Git repository, the database, the deployment scripts and the documentation, on your own infrastructure, in your own accounts. If you want another firm to take over next year, they can. That is the point: the only reason to keep working with us should be that the work is good.
Sixteen weeks, and you use it from week six
Sit with the people who do the work
Not a requirements document written in a meeting room. We watch the current process, spreadsheet and all, and find the steps that actually cost time.
Scope and fixed quote
What phase one covers, what it deliberately doesn’t, and the price fixed against it. This is where we say if an existing product would do the job.
Data model and screens
How your information is structured, and every screen designed and approved before development starts. Changing this later is what makes projects overrun.
Build, in two-week sprints
A staging link after every sprint. Your team uses real screens with real data from week six and tells us what’s wrong while it’s cheap to fix.
Data migration and parallel run
Your existing records imported and checked. Then both systems run side by side until the new one is trusted — nobody switches on a Monday and hopes.
Training and handover
Sessions with the people who’ll use it, written documentation, and the full handover: code, database, servers, credentials.
What custom software costs
Compare these against the licence fee you would pay every year for the life of the business, not against zero.

Four spreadsheets, one system
A Chennai distributor was running orders, stock, dispatch and receivables in four separate spreadsheets, reconciled by hand every Friday afternoon. We replaced them with a single system: one order record moving through stages, stock updating as dispatch happened, and an automated receivables reminder. The Friday reconciliation stopped existing.
When custom software is the wrong answer
We turn down more of these enquiries than any other service. Usually for one of these three reasons.
A standard product exists
Accounting, payroll, email, helpdesk and e-signature are solved problems. Building your own version costs twenty times more and will be worse.
The process isn’t settled
If how you work changes every quarter, software will freeze the wrong version of it. Settle the process on paper first, then automate it.
Nobody internally owns it
Custom software needs one person who decides what it does next and gets the team to use it. Without that it becomes another system people work around.
Straight answers
How much does custom software cost in Chennai?
A single internal tool or CRM starts at ₹6,00,000. A connected system covering several departments with integrations is ₹12,00,000 upwards. A full ERP for manufacturing or distribution starts around ₹25,00,000 and is usually delivered in phases. The comparison that matters is not against zero — it’s against the per-seat licence fee you would otherwise pay every year for as long as the business exists.
Should I build custom software or buy an existing product?
Buy, if your process is standard. Accounting, payroll, helpdesk and email are solved — building your own is expensive and worse. Build when the process is what makes you competitive, when no product fits without distorting how you work, or when per-seat licensing has become the larger cost. We ask this in week one and will tell you to buy if that’s the answer.
Do I own the source code and the data?
Yes, all of it. The Git repository, the database, the deployment scripts and the documentation, on your own servers and in your own accounts. If you want a different firm to take it over next year, they can, without asking us for anything.
Can it work with Tally, Zoho or the systems we already use?
Usually, yes — and integrating is generally cheaper than replacing. We build against documented APIs where they exist, and scheduled import and export where they don’t. Tally, Zoho, Razorpay, Shiprocket and WhatsApp Business are the ones we’re asked for most often in Chennai.
How long does it take, and when do we see it?
Ten to twelve weeks for a single tool, sixteen to twenty for a connected system, and twenty-four to thirty-six for a full ERP delivered in phases. You get a staging link after every two-week sprint, so your team is using real screens with real data from about week six rather than waiting for a launch.
What happens to our existing data?
It gets migrated and checked before switchover, and the two systems run in parallel until the new one is trusted. Spreadsheets, Tally exports and older databases all import. Messy data is normal — cleaning it is part of the work, and it is usually the point where a business finally learns which of its records were wrong.
What does support cost after launch?
Thirty days of bug fixing is included. After that most clients take a monthly retainer covering hosting supervision, security updates, backups and a set number of change hours. Custom software changes as the business changes — a system nobody is allowed to modify slowly stops matching the company.
Tell us what the spreadsheet does
Describe the process rather than the software you think you need. We’ll come back with a scope, a fixed price, and an honest answer on whether an existing product would do it cheaper.
