What SEO can't do
SEO is the most oversold service in this market. If you've been burned before, it was probably by one of these four claims.
It can't guarantee rankings
Nobody controls Google's index. Any agency guaranteeing position one is either lying or targeting keywords nobody searches. We'll show you which.
It can't work in 30 days
Technical fixes land quickly. Rankings for anything competitive take months. If you need enquiries this month, paid ads are the honest answer.
It can't fix a bad offer
More traffic to a page that doesn't convert produces more people leaving. We'll tell you if the problem is the site, not the visibility.
It can't be bought cheaply
A ₹5,000-a-month package buys directory submissions and a report. It cannot buy the technical work, content and outreach that actually move rankings.
What SEO can do is compound. Traffic you earn keeps arriving after you stop paying for it, which is the opposite of ads — and why it's worth the wait if you can afford the wait.
What the first three months look like
Published because you're entitled to know what a retainer buys before you pay it.
Fix what's broken
Full technical audit. Crawl errors, indexation problems, page speed, broken redirects, duplicate titles. Rewrite title tags and meta across priority pages. Set up Search Console and GA4 properly if they aren't already. This is unglamorous and it's where most of the early gains come from.
Build the foundations
Keyword research mapped to real pages, not a list. Content plan agreed with you. Schema markup, internal linking structure, Google Business Profile optimisation. First articles or landing pages published.
Publish and measure
Content cadence running. Link acquisition through genuine outreach and citations. First meaningful movement usually shows here — impressions before clicks, clicks before enquiries.
Realistically, when does it pay?
Roughly how much of the eventual result you should expect to see, by month. Nobody can promise these — but anyone unwilling to give you a shape like this is avoiding the question.
Technical fixes land. Impressions may move. Enquiries usually don't.
Long-tail pages start ranking. First organic enquiries typically appear.
Meaningful organic enquiry volume. Competitive terms entering striking distance.
Head terms achievable. Traffic compounds without proportional spend.
What's in an SEO retainer
Six workstreams. Not all of them run every month — the mix shifts as the site improves.
Start with a free auditCrawlability, indexation, Core Web Vitals, structured data, redirect hygiene.
Titles, headings, internal links and content depth on the pages that can actually rank.
Articles and landing pages built around what buyers search before they call. Written by people.
Google Business Profile, the Chennai map pack, citations, review generation.
Directories that matter, genuine outreach, digital PR. No purchased link networks — they're a liability, not an asset.
Monthly, leading with enquiries and cost per enquiry. Search Console and GA4 in your name.
The Chennai map pack is a separate game
For most local searches, three map results sit above every organic listing. Winning there depends on different signals — and it's usually faster than ranking organically.
Profile completeness
Correct category, full service list, hours, real photos, Q&A answered. Most Chennai profiles are half-filled.
Review velocity
Not just count — recency and response rate. A steady trickle beats a burst. We'll set up a request process that actually gets used.
Citation consistency
Name, address and phone identical across Sulekha, JustDial, IndiaMART, Clutch and GoodFirms. Mismatches quietly suppress ranking.
One thing we won't do
Stuff keywords into your Google Business Profile name. It's the strongest lever in the local pack and it's also a policy violation — competitors can report it and profiles get suspended. We compete on genuine signals instead.
What the monthly report says
One page, in this order. If your current agency's report opens with keyword rankings, ask how many enquiries those rankings produced.
1 · Organic enquiries
The number the whole engagement is judged on.
2 · Clicks and impressions
Straight from Search Console, with the queries that moved.
3 · What we shipped
Actual work — fixes deployed, pages published, links earned.
4 · What didn't work
Included on purpose. Every month has something that underperformed.
Search Console, GA4 and any tools sit in your accounts. If we part ways, the data stays with you — including the historical baseline, which is what makes the next agency's job possible.

39 pages indexed out of 141
A Chennai business came to us ranking for almost nothing despite eight years of content. Search Console showed 39 pages indexed of 141 known, with 48 marked "crawled — currently not indexed." The cause was technical: a broken page builder was rendering shortcode text instead of content, and the main service page carried 20 H1 tags. We fixed the rendering, consolidated duplicate pages, and rebuilt internal linking so the blog fed the service pages.
Agency, freelancer or in-house?
An honest comparison, including where a freelancer beats us.
| SEO freelancer | Agency (us) | In-house hire | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Typical monthly cost | ₹8,000–25,000 | ₹22,000–85,000 | ₹45,000+ salary |
| Breadth of skills | One person's strengths | Technical, content, outreach | Depends entirely on the hire |
| Capacity for content | Limited | Scales with retainer | One person's output |
| Continuity risk | High — one person | Team covers absence | High — they can leave |
| Business context | Good | Good | Best — they're inside it |
| Right when | Budget under ₹20k and scope is narrow | You need several skills and no hiring risk | SEO is core to the business long-term |
If your budget is genuinely under ₹20,000 a month, a good freelancer will serve you better than a thin agency retainer. We'd rather say that than take the work.

Straight answers
How much does SEO cost in Chennai per month?
Our retainers run ₹22,000–45,000 a month for local SEO within Chennai, ₹45,000–85,000 for competing across Tamil Nadu or nationally, and ₹85,000–1,50,000 for ecommerce or multi-location work. Below roughly ₹20,000 a month there isn't enough hours in the budget to do technical work, content and outreach properly — you'd get a report and little else. If that's your budget, hire a good freelancer for a narrow scope instead.
How long before I see results?
Technical fixes can show in Search Console within weeks. Long-tail pages typically start ranking around month three, which is usually when the first organic enquiries appear. Meaningful volume is a six-month conversation, and competitive head terms are a nine to eighteen month one. If you need enquiries this month, paid ads are the honest recommendation and we'll say so.
Should I hire an SEO agency or a freelancer?
A freelancer if your budget is under ₹20,000 a month and the scope is narrow — a good one will outperform a thin agency retainer, and we'll tell you that rather than take the work. An agency when you need technical, content and outreach skills at once, or when you can't carry the risk of one person going quiet. In-house when SEO is genuinely core to the business and you'll keep someone busy full-time.
Do you guarantee first-page rankings?
No. Nobody can, because nobody controls Google's index. Any agency guaranteeing position one is either being dishonest or targeting keywords with no search volume — where ranking first is trivial and worth nothing. What we will commit to is the work: what gets done each month, what gets reported, and an honest read on whether the terms you want are realistically winnable.
What happens if I stop after six months?
You keep everything. Search Console, GA4, the content, the technical fixes and the links all stay with your site — that's the difference between SEO and ads. Rankings don't vanish when you stop, though they will gradually slip as competitors keep publishing. Every account is in your name from day one, so there's nothing to hand back.
Do you do SEO for ecommerce sites?
Yes, and it's a different job to service-business SEO. Category and product page structure, faceted navigation handling, duplicate content from variants, and product schema all matter more than blog content. If you're on WooCommerce or Shopify we'll usually start with a crawl to find how many product URLs are being indexed that shouldn't be — it's the most common problem we see.
Start with the audit, not the contract
Send us your URL. We'll come back with what's broken, what's winnable, and an honest view on whether SEO is even the right spend for you right now.
