This policy explains what DataShaft Technologies collects when you use datashaft.in, why we collect it, and what we do with it. We've written it to be read rather than skimmed past.

What we collect
When you submit an enquiry
Name, phone number, and optionally your email, website address and whatever you write in the message field. We also record the page you submitted from, the time, and your IP address — the last two purely to catch spam.
When you browse the site
Standard analytics: pages visited, approximate location by city, device type and referral source. We use Google Analytics 4 for this. We do not attempt to identify individual visitors from it.
What we don't collect
- Payment or card details — the site takes no payments
- Sensitive personal data as defined under the DPDP Act
- Anything from children under 18, knowingly
Why we collect it
- To reply to your enquiry. That's the whole purpose of the forms.
- To improve the site. Analytics tell us which pages people find useful and which they leave.
- To prevent abuse. IP and timestamp are used to rate-limit spam submissions.
What we don't do with it
- We don't sell your data. Not to anyone, ever.
- We don't add you to a mailing list because you asked for a quote.
- We don't run retargeting ads at you based on a form submission.
Cookies
The site sets one cookie of its own — a theme preference remembering whether you chose light or dark mode. It contains no personal data. Google Analytics sets its own cookies; you can block them in your browser or use an ad blocker without breaking the site.
How long we keep it
Enquiry details are kept for as long as we're in conversation, and for [24 months] afterwards in case you come back. Analytics data follows Google's retention settings, currently [14 months]. Ask us to delete your details sooner and we will.
Who else sees it
Our hosting provider (Hostinger) stores the site and any submitted data. Google Analytics processes usage data. If you message us on WhatsApp, that conversation sits with Meta under their terms. We don't share enquiry details with anyone else.
Your rights
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 you can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct anything wrong, or delete it entirely. Email info@datashaft.in and we'll respond within 30 days. There's no charge.
Security
The site runs over HTTPS. Enquiry data is emailed to us and stored on our mail provider. We're a small team and access is limited to the people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, and we won't claim otherwise — but we don't store anything on this site that would be valuable to steal.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top. Material changes affecting how we use existing data will be notified by email to anyone affected.
