Ecommerce Website Development in Chennai
We build online stores for Chennai businesses that are set up to sell from day one — Razorpay integrated, GST invoicing working, and a checkout that doesn't lose people on mobile. Not a catalogue that looks nice and converts nothing.

Shopify, WooCommerce or custom?
This is the decision that determines your costs for the next five years, and most agencies make it for you based on what they prefer building. Here's the honest comparison.
| Shopify | WooCommerce | Custom build | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Typical build cost | ₹85,000–2,50,000 | ₹65,000–2,00,000 | ₹3,50,000+ |
| Ongoing platform fee | Monthly subscription + transaction fee | None — hosting only | None — hosting only |
| Time to launch | 3–5 weeks | 4–7 weeks | 10–16 weeks |
| You own the code | No — platform-hosted | Yes | Yes |
| Best for | Simple catalogues, fast launch, non-technical teams | Content-heavy stores, custom logic, tight budgets | Complex pricing, ERP integration, high volume |
| Not right when | You need unusual checkout or pricing rules | Nobody will maintain updates | Under 200 SKUs and a standard checkout |
Most Chennai businesses we speak to are better served by WooCommerce or Shopify. We'll tell you if custom is overkill — it usually is.
What's included in every store
No line items appearing halfway through the project. This is the standard build.
See full pricingCategories, variants, inventory rules — configured, not just installed.
Razorpay, PayU or CCAvenue, live-tested with real transactions.
Correct tax breakdown on every order and invoice.
Shiprocket or Delhivery, plus cash-on-delivery handling.
Most Indian ecommerce traffic is mobile. The checkout is built for it first.
GA4 ecommerce events and Meta pixel, verified working before handover.
Two sessions so your staff can add products without calling us.
Bug fixes and small changes included as standard.
The parts overseas templates get wrong
An imported theme will handle your product photos fine. It will not handle GST, cash on delivery, or a Razorpay refund flow.
Payment gateways
Razorpay, PayU and CCAvenue integrated and tested with live transactions — including failed-payment recovery.
GST invoicing
Correct HSN codes, CGST/SGST/IGST split by delivery state, and invoices your accountant will accept.
Cash on delivery
Still a large share of Indian orders. COD availability by pincode, with order-confirmation checks to cut RTO.
Shipping & returns
Shiprocket or Delhivery connected, live tracking for customers, and a returns flow that doesn't run on WhatsApp.
Six weeks, honestly
Anyone promising a full store in ten days is either using a stock template or is about to miss the date. This is what a real WooCommerce build looks like.
Discovery & scope
Product structure, tax rules, shipping zones, payment choice. Fixed quote signed before anything is built.
Design
Homepage, category, product and checkout screens. You approve before development starts.
Build
Store built on a live staging link you can check daily. Catalogue loaded, gateway connected in test mode.
Testing
Live payment tests, GST invoice checks, mobile checkout on real devices, speed optimisation.
Launch & handover
Go live, team training, full access handed over — hosting, domain, source code, admin.

A store that was getting traffic and no orders
A Chennai retailer had 4,000 monthly visitors and fewer than 30 orders. The checkout took seven steps, COD wasn't offered outside four pincodes, and the mobile cart dropped items on refresh. We rebuilt the checkout to two steps, opened COD across Tamil Nadu with confirmation calls to cut returns, and fixed the cart session bug.

Straight answers
How much does an ecommerce website cost in Chennai?
A starter WooCommerce store with up to 50 products runs ₹65,000–1,45,000. A custom-designed store with shipping integration and COD workflows is typically ₹1,45,000 to ₹2,50,000. Fully custom platforms with ERP integration run roughly ₹3,50,000–6,00,000. What moves the number is catalogue size, how unusual your pricing or checkout rules are, and whether you need integration with existing systems. Platform subscriptions and gateway fees are paid directly to those providers, not to us.
Shopify or WooCommerce — which should I choose?
Shopify if you want to launch fast, have a straightforward catalogue and nobody technical on the team — you trade a monthly fee and transaction cut for someone else handling hosting and updates. WooCommerce if you want to own everything, need custom logic, or are running content alongside the store. If your checkout rules are unusual or you're integrating with an ERP, neither fits well and custom is the honest answer.
Can you integrate Razorpay and handle GST invoices?
Yes — both are standard in every store we build, not add-ons. Razorpay, PayU and CCAvenue are all supported, tested with live transactions before launch including failed-payment recovery. GST invoicing is configured with correct HSN codes and the CGST/SGST/IGST split applied by delivery state.
How long does it take to launch?
A starter store takes four to five weeks. A custom-designed store with shipping and COD workflows takes six to seven. Custom platforms run ten to sixteen weeks. You get a fixed timeline in the quote and a live staging link from week three, so you're watching progress rather than waiting on updates.
Can you migrate my existing store?
Yes. We migrate products, customers, order history and — importantly — your URLs. Ecommerce migrations lose rankings when product URLs change without redirects, so we map every existing URL to its new destination before launch. If you're moving from Shopify to WooCommerce or the other way, that mapping is the part that matters most.
Do you handle product photography and listings?
Listings yes — we'll load your catalogue as part of the build, including categories, variants and inventory rules. Photography we don't do in-house, but we'll tell you exactly what shots and dimensions you need, and we work with Chennai photographers we can introduce you to.
Ready to build a store that sells?
Tell us what you're selling and we'll come back with a platform recommendation and a fixed quote — no discovery-call gatekeeping.
