Terms of Service
Last updated: [date]
These terms cover the use of datashaft.in and the general basis on which we work. Individual projects are governed by the specific proposal and contract you sign — where the two differ, that contract wins.
Using this website
You're welcome to read, reference and share anything here. You may not copy substantial portions of the content, code or design for commercial use without asking. The content is provided as-is; we try to keep it accurate but don't warrant it.
Quotes and proposals
- Prices shown on the site are starting figures, not final quotes. The number in your written proposal is what counts.
- Written quotes are valid for [30 days] from issue.
- A quote is fixed against the scope described in it. Work outside that scope is quoted separately before it starts — never billed as a surprise.
How projects run
Payment
Typically [50% to begin, 50% on completion] for projects, and monthly in advance for retainers. Stated in your proposal. Invoices are due within [15 days].
Your responsibilities
Projects need content, feedback and decisions from you. Where these are delayed, timelines move accordingly — we'll flag it rather than absorb it silently.
Revisions
Each project includes a stated number of revision rounds. Beyond that, additional work is quoted first.
Ownership and handover
On final payment, you own the deliverables: source code, designs, and content we produced for you. Hosting and domain are registered in your name from the start. We hand over documentation, credentials and a list of third-party services the site depends on.
Third-party components — plugins, licences, frameworks, stock assets — remain under their own licences. We'll tell you which are involved and what they cost.
We keep the right to show completed work in our portfolio and case studies unless you ask us not to, which you're free to do at any point.
Support after launch
Projects include [30 days] of support covering bugs and small changes. It doesn't cover new features, content rewrites, or problems caused by changes someone else made. Ongoing maintenance is available separately and is never a condition of handover.
What we don't guarantee
- Search rankings. Nobody controls Google's index. We commit to the work, not to a position.
- Specific business outcomes. We can build the system; we can't guarantee your market's response.
- Third-party uptime. Hosting, payment gateways and APIs are outside our control.
Liability
Our total liability for any project is limited to the fees you paid us for it. We're not liable for indirect or consequential losses — lost profits, lost data, business interruption. Nothing here limits liability for anything that can't lawfully be limited.
Ending an engagement
Either of us can end a project with [30 days] written notice. You pay for work completed to that point; we hand over everything produced. Retainers with a minimum term run to the end of that term. No penalties, no held assets.
Governing law
These terms are governed by Indian law. Disputes fall under the jurisdiction of the courts of Chennai, Tamil Nadu. We'd rather resolve things by talking first, and generally do.
